We treat all dogs under
our care as part of our family. We have a detached heated/air conditioned
kennel plus a dog room inside our home. All dogs are given 'house time' every
day. We believe preparing a dog for the show ring is as important as him
becoming a well-behaved member of the household. Sometimes in a show ring,
especially with terriers, it may well come down to demeanor and training.
Dogs we accept for
handling are exercised daily to keep them in top condition. We feed Innova
EVO or will accommodate special diets and supplement as necessary or at your
request.
We follow a show schedule
in the South, Southeast and Midwest areas of the US. We limit our string to 5 in order to allow
us to give our full attention to all dogs in our care. On occasion we will
travel outside of our regular show district
for national specialties and/or supported entries.
We
have been successful at all levels of dog shows, from finishing a new champion
to campaigning specials to qualify for Westminster and Eukanuba Invitational to
class placements including Judge's Award of Merit and Best of Breed at national
specialties. We also accept ringside pick-ups. These dogs must be fully
groomed and have at least minimal ring training to be taken into the ring.
We accept most breeds but
specialize in Terriers. After a complete evaluation, we will talk with you
candidly about your dog's potential as an AKC Champion of Record. If the decision is
made to go forward with showing, he/she will be conditioned and groomed as
needed. We devote as much time as is necessary to condition your dog both
mentally and physically to take on the stamina required for showing. When
boarded with us for showing, he/she will be fully ring trained. We can also
schedule private handling lessons for you if you want to go into the ring
yourself. If there is enough interest, we will also teach a class when there
are 4 or more students.
When deciding on whether
or not to place your purebred with a handler, remember.. professional handlers
are better equipped to manage the pressures of constant grooming and showing
every weekend. Additionally, hiring a professional is often less expensive
than doing it yourself. The cost for hotels, gas, food and incidentals can add
up fast. This does not include the grooming supplies and equipment and the wear
on your vehicle. A big plus is you won't have to load and unload the crates,
grooming equipment, grooming tables and dogs in and out of the show site. Then
there is the conditioning, exercising, grooming, pottying and clean up at the
end of a very long day.
At
Outfoxed Kennels, we put our reputation on the line each and every time we step
inside of a ring and we are going to do our very best to ensure your purebred
will win those needed points to become a champion or make it into the AKC Top 10
and beyond. Give us a call today and let us help you make your purebred the
best he can be.
